Type P Pad Printing Inks
INSTRUCTIONS:
NOTE: Read Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) prior to use.
(For MSDS en Espanol click here)
Pad Printing Ink Type P is a single or two-component product supplied in paste form.
Single-Component:
Thinner, if needed, should be thoroughly mixed with the ink prior to using. During printing, the ink viscosity may be adjusted with thinner.
Two-Component
Hardener must be added for production use. Ink and hardener should be thoroughly mixed prior to adding thinner. During printing, the ink viscosity may be adjusted with thinner (if needed). A retarder may be added to slow drying rate during printing (normally for high room temperatures or multi-color use). Under most conditions, ink pot life will not exceed eight to ten hours. Recommended room temperature: 70-78 degrees F. Recommended room humidity 30-50 %
Special Additives
For increased adhesion to difficult substrates, use Adhesion Promoter FX-209. This additive will not create a pot life to the ink, except for metallics which are good for only one to two days.
For cliché oxidation or rusting problems, use Anti-Corrosive Ink Thinners VD/00 or B/01.
For a write-on capable ink (single-component) use Fuller 33 additive.
ADDITIVES: (See Additives Chart for more listings)
Hardeners: (mixing ratio, ink to hardener)
- BH HARDENER (10 : 1 Ratio by weight) For most applications.
- BH/N HARDENER (10 : 1 Ratio by weight) More ultraviolet light and abrasion resistant but requires additional drying time.
Thinners:
THINNER B (1 to 15 % by weight) Faster
THINNER B/01 (1 to 15 % by weight) Faster, Anti-Corrosive
VD THINNER (1 To 15 % by weight) Medium
VD/00 THINNER (1 To 15 % by weight) Medium, Anti-Corrosive
THINNER BGA (1 To 15 % by weight) Slower
Retarder:
TPD RETARDER (1 To 3 % by weight) Single-Component
Special:
FX-209 (10 % by weight) Ink Adhesion Promoter
Fuller 33 (6 % by weight) For Write-On Capability
DRYING & CURING: (See Ink Drying & Curing Times Chart )
Ink TYPE P dries to the touch within 15 to 30 seconds at room temperature. Drying time (to the touch) may be reduced with forced hot air at 200 – 400 degrees F. Normally, full cure is achieved after one to two days, depending on curing temperature, time and humidity. Heat curing is necessary for better adhesion and performance results.
COLORS: (See Color Availability Chart )
Ink Type P is available in:
- 23 Standard Opaque Colors
- Standard Metallic Colors
- Process colors
- Custom Colors Available Upon Request
- C-Mix 2000 Color Matching System
NT (non-toxic) Inks
Our NT Series Inks conform to US C.O.N.E.G. Legislation and European Standard EN 71, part 3 Safety of Toys (1989) For special applications - examples, Medical. Automotive; MIL-STD please Contact Us.
USE & STORAGE INFORMATION
(For more detailed information see Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) for Type P Ink. (Material Safety Data Sheet en Espanol)
Ink Type P:
Stir ink thoroughly before removing from container. Reseal lid tightly after using. Shelf Life: Two years (in original sealed container)
HARDENER: Reseal container immediately after using. Hardener is humidity sensitive. As moisture is absorbed, the viscosity first increases, then starts forming crystals. Do not use when crystals first appear. Shelf Life: one year (in original sealed container)
THINNER: Reseal lid tightly after using. Shelf Life: two years (in original sealed container)
RETARDER: Reseal lid tightly after using. Shelf Life: two years (in original sealed container)
STORAGE OF ALL PRODUCTS: At room temperature 60 to 80 Degrees F with low humidity.
Ink Type P: Recommended Printing Substrates
Ø : Indicates substrate may require flame curing.
# : Indicates substrate may require pretreatment.
