Making The Decision

Purchasing the right machine for your application is simple if you know what to look for. There are three basic technologies available today: open inkwell, closed ink cup and rotary gravure.

Rotary Gravure System
Rotary gravure technology (also called RTI) is preferred in applications that require printing 360 degrees around a part’s circumference or printing in a continuous motion.

Closed Ink Cup Technology
The closed ink cup system was introduced in the mid-1980’s and has become widely accepted with today’s customers. Its popularity is due to the fact that the ink is encapsulated in an inverted cup that thereby limits solvent evaporation.
