PAD PRINTING
Type UVN Ink

Ultraviolet Light Curable
Good Printability
At High Speeds
Resistant to Chemicals
& Abrasion

Type UVN Ink is an ultraviolet light curable ink. This ink shows good printability even if printing speed is high and the cliché used is deeply etched. It is suitable for printing onto rigid and plasticized PVC, polycarbonates and other plastics. When fully cured, it provides outstanding resistance to:
Abrasion
Chemicals

INSTRUCTIONS:

NOTE: Read Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS) Prior To Use

Ink Type UVN is supplied in a liquid form. Recommended cliche depth for pad printing is 25 microns. The ink has a printable range between 18 to 28 microns, depending on application. The ink can be applied single or double hit. If applying double hit adding clear binder to the ink may be advisable for maximum curing.

The ink may be adjusted with thinner as needed. Slow thinner may be added to slow drying rate during printing (normally for high room temperatures or multi-color use).

CAUTION: UV ink is light-reactive. Avoid long term direct exposure to UV light when using. Yellow Plexiglas machine guarding is advised. Recommended room temperature 70-78 degrees F. Recommended room humidity 30-50 %

ADDITIVES: (See Additives Chart for more listings)

Thinners:
THINNER B (5 To 15 % by weight) Faster evaporating than "VD"
THINNER VD (5 TO 15 % by weight) Slower

Retarder:
TPD RETARDER (1 To 3 % by weight)

DRYING & CURING: (See
Ink Drying & Curing Times Chart )

Ink TYPE UVN remains tacky until curing takes place.

PREHEAT: (Optional) Ink performance may be increased with IR treatment immediately before UV light curing, typically 140 – 170 Degrees F for at least 35 seconds.

UV LIGHT CURING: Ink TYPE UVN only cures under UV radiation of suitable wavelength and intensity. Curing parameters depend on layer thickness, and substrate.

UV EXPOSURE: Expose to a medium pressure, Mercury vapor type lamp operating at a minimum of 200W per inch imput power. Curing energy should be between 1000 and 2000 mJ/cm
2 . After curing, the ink is dry to the touch that can be handled aggressively without damage. Maximum chemical and abrasion resistance will be seen after a period of 24 hours.

COLORS: (See Color Availability Chart )
Ink Type UVN is available in:
• black, white, red, gold, copper, silver
• Custom Colors Available Upon Request
• Process colors
• C-Mix 2000 Color Matching System
