![]() ![]() Pad Clean-Off Device Refill Rolls: SkapeTape Cleans with Equal Quality & Better Value ONE good printer's habit that cannot be neglected without negative consequences is pad hygiene. By periodically removing unwanted material from the pad surface, the quality of the image is kept free of dust specks or pinholes. Our print lab technicians are always reaching for their rolls of tape for just that reason: good pad printing requires clean pads. So to help accomplish that goal, ITW Trans Tech is introducing our newly trademarked, clear, polypropylene tape used for cleaning silicone rubber pads: SkapeTape. ![]() Ideal for periodic removal of dust, dried ink and other debris from pads during the printing process, SkapeTape does the job. We have successfully tested it here in our print lab and on all our pad printing machines equipped with automatic pad clean-off devices. We think you'll agree that SkapeTape is better than our standard tape which you may have used in the past. We have found that SkapeTape is an equal product at a better value with these benefits: same clean pick-up same roll widths: 72, 96 & 120 millimeters same lengths: 50 & 100 meters same core diameter: 75 millimeters SkapeTape Saves You Big Money:
Tips From The Pros: How to replace roll of SkapeTape on Pad Clean-Off Device: Shown in the photo sequence below, procedures for replacing a roll of SkapeTape on a typical pad clean-off device (machine pictured in photo is Gemini 60/90). ![]() Tension on infeed spool is adjusted by center screw. Tape should unwind with minimal resistance, coming off the bottom with adhesive side up. ![]() Tape is fed over the first block then under the center roller, adhesive side up. ![]() Center roller should turn freely with slight resistance from contact with tape adhesive. ![]() Tape is then fed over the second block and around the bottom of outfeed spool with cardboard core inserted. Spool can then be advanced manually. Note: save empty core from used infeed to replace outfeed when full. ![]() Distance of each tape advance can be adjusted on the rotary actuator scale. Typically the distance will be the width of the cliché image.
