| Print Lab & Service: Be Prepared With Spares WHAT does it cost you when your pad printing system is down? Can you measure it in dollars per minute? Dont forget to consider the now idle operator and the people and machines down-line from the printer. What about your customers expectations? Are you going to be able to meet your promised delivery date? ![]() The most common parts that need replacing are fuses. These are some of the questions to consider when determining the investment in maintenance training, operator training, spare parts inventory and preventative maintenance that you are willing to make in order to keep your printing system producing a quality product. There will be some unavoidable down time, no matter how well you prepare, but there is nothing more frustrating than having a machine down and being unable to correct the problem. ![]() Proximity switches often need to be replaced during periodic maintenance. Where To Find Answers If it is training that you need, ITW Trans Tech can provide training in your plant or at our Carol Stream facility for both machine maintenance personnel and printer operators. We also have service and application specialists to provide help over the phone or via e-mail (or visit our web site at www.itwtranstech.com ). In the current business climate of reduced inventories and just-in-time deliveries, we rely on all of our equipment and processes to perform flawlessly in order to achieve our goals. When a replacement part is needed for your equipment, waiting a day seems like an eternity; a wait of several weeks can be devastating. ![]() Typical shock absorber used on ITW Trans Tech pad printing machines Check The Manual One way to make it easier and faster to keep your printing line up and producing is to keep recommended spare parts on hand for repairs and scheduled maintenance. The documentation that is supplied with your ITW Trans Tech printer includes a recommended spare parts list and a lubrication and maintenance guide. We suggest that you keep the parts from the recommended list on hand, as these are parts that have been determined, through experience, to fail, wear out or easily get lost or broken during normal use. If you have a severe application or extremely critical production requirements, contact a Trans Tech service technician for additional parts and maintenance recommendations. Have A Plan The potential for unexpected down time can be greatly reduced by following the maintenance recommendations, inspecting the machine regularly and making repairs before failure. The operators know how the machine normally performs. Have a good reporting and response plan in place for the operators so a change in the machine or process can be corrected promptly. Putting a regular maintenance program in place and spare parts on the shelf will result in optimum performance and reliability from your equipment. Dont hesitate to contact a Trans Tech sales representative or service technician if you have specific application or service questions. ![]() Back to PADPRINT Notebook © 2007 ITW TRANS TECH An Illinois Tool Works Company.
